This button was given to members of Sherwin Williams' Brighten Up Club, which was started in 1913 and is referenced in the paint company's magazine, The Home Decorator. The club was started by Sherwin Williams in an attempt to have customers "brighten up" their communities and households by advocating for social and industrial progress while promoting a love for nature and cleanliness; the company urged members to create strong community factions of the club. The "cover the earth" logo in the middle of the button was adopted by the company in 1905.
