Yngwie Malmsteen is a Grammy-nominated Swedish musician, most notable for his highly technical guitar-playing. Malmsteen has credited classical music, particularly Paganini, as well as Ritchie Blackmore, Uli Jon Roth, and Brian May as influences on his style. Malmsteen rose to popularity during the mid-1980s, and his Neo-classical style was influential on many of his contemporaries. In 1988, Fender Guitars released a Malmsteen signature Stratocaster, and he and Eric Clapton were the first artists to be honored by Fender.
