Mickey Mantle was a center fielder and first baseman for the New York Yankees from 1951 to 1968. Mantle was nicknamed "The Commerce Comet" and "The Mick", and is considered one of the greatest switch hitters in history. During his career, he hit 536 home runs and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.

On December 3, 1982, Mickey Mantle made a personal appearance at the Echelon Mall in Voorhees, New Jersey. To mark the event, three different pins were made to give to the crowds of fans and media that attended the event. The Echelon Mall was renamed the Voorhees Town Center in 2007.
