Gustavo García-Siller was named Archbishop of San Antonio, Texas, by Pope Benedict XVI on October 14, 2010. He is pictured here at a ceremony for the Blessing of the Shrine of Our Lady Patroness of the Church on Sep 26th, 2010. The Blessed Mother, under the title “Immaculate Conception,” was chosen in 1846 unanimously by the American bishops, to be the Patroness of the United States of America. The bishops re-established their teaching that: “The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.”
