The Cat in the Hat is a character from a children’s book written and illustrated by Theodor Seuss Geisel (1904 – 1991), better known by his pen name, Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat was published in 1957 and was Dr. Seuss’s 13th children’s book. By 1960, The Cat in the Hat had sold nearly one million copies. The success of the book inspired the creation of The Cat in the Hat Comes Back, Hop on Pop, and Green Eggs and Ham.
